The holiday season is here, and at Northgate at Falls Church, we’re thrilled to kick off the festivities with a tradition that’s close to our hearts! This year, we’re joining Morguard’s North Pole Express, a four-week donation drive focused on bringing comfort and joy to foster children. We’ve teamed up with Comfort Cases, an incredible nonprofit dedicated to supporting children in foster care, and we’d love for our Northgate community to join us in making this holiday season truly special!
What Is the North Pole Express? 🎅
This isn’t just another holiday drive—it’s an opportunity to bring meaningful change to a child’s life. The North Pole Express is a nationwide initiative led by Morguard, bringing communities like Northgate together to collect essential items for foster children. Over the next four weeks, our lobby will be transformed into a cheerful collection point for your generous donations.
Who Are We Supporting? 💙
We’re proud to partner with Comfort Cases, founded by Rob Scheer, who understands firsthand the challenges faced by children in the foster system. Rob started Comfort Cases to change the heartbreaking reality that many kids enter foster care with their belongings in trash bags. These “comfort cases” are backpacks filled with essentials like pajamas, books, cozy blankets, and hygiene products to provide dignity, comfort, and hope.
These comfort cases are more than just backpacks—they’re a reminder to these kids that they are seen, valued, and cared for, especially during difficult transitions.
How Can You Get Involved? 🎁
We invite our wonderful Northgate residents to help us spread joy this season! From now until December 13th, we’ll be collecting the following items in our lobby:
- New pajamas (all sizes welcome)
- Diaper wipes (packs of 10-48)
- Children’s books (to inspire bedtime stories)
- Small blankets & stuffed animals (for warmth and comfort)
- Baby washcloths (to help keep little ones clean)
Please remember, all items must be new and unused, and they should not be religious or holiday-themed to ensure inclusivity for all children.
